Alchemy versus chemistry, the plaque says, two sides of the same quest. Nicely put. Except one side didn't replace the other, it gutted it. Chemistry didn't take away alchemy's superstition, but its soul – and sold the rest to industry. Alchemy wanted to refine humanity, chemistry wanted profits. What remains is a laboratory without an interior: a furnace that burns and transforms nothing but raw material into profit.

The Alchemy of Heretics, or When Chemistry Lost Its Soul

As within, so without: The oven was a mirror.

The athanor, the alchemists' furnace, possessed a quality no Bunsen burner ever had: it could not go out. For weeks, months, years, the adept kept the embers burning, and anyone who reads the texts quickly understands that it wasn't about the temperature of the lead, but about the temperature of the person before it. Nigredo, the blackening, the decay, the death of the old substance. Albedo, the purification. Rubedo, the reddening, the completed work. This is not metallurgy; it is an anatomy of consciousness, disguised as a recipe so the Inquisition would mistake it for kitchen chemistry. "As above, so below" does not mean that stars rule lead. It means that there is only one order, and you are part of it, not a spectator. Matter is spirit, spirit is matter; the separation is an invention of those who want to manage spirit and possess matter. The adept needed no permission, no professorship, no intermediary for this. His guiding principle was incredibly simple and therefore dangerous: Know thyself and change thyself, then you will change the world. Those in power hate this statement because it renders them superfluous. That the symbols of this art were later locked away in lodges and display cases is merely a continuation of the same theft. Even Isaac Newton, the saint of reason, left behind roughly a million words on alchemy, which were shamefully kept in the cellar for two centuries.

Nothing is created, nothing is lost: The balance sheet devours meaning.

Then came the accountant. In 1789, Antoine Lavoisier presented his "Traité élémentaire de chimie" and placed the balance at the center of the laboratory: before and after every operation, the same quantity of matter, only rearranged. Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed. The statement sounds like Hermeticism, yet it is its opposite. Alchemy asked where the transformation leads. Chemistry asks whether the balance is correct.

Lavoisier was also the king's tax farmer and manager of the gunpowder factory ; the Revolution weighed his head in its own way in 1794. It could hardly be more symbolic: the man who declared matter to be a mere counter became himself an item in an accounting. The table calls the principle of chemistry "regularity and repeatability." Exactly. What can be repeated can be patented, licensed, and mass-produced. Alchemy was unrepeatable because the adept was part of the experiment. Chemistry has eliminated him from the equation and calls this objectivity.

Knowledge is power: The guiding principle reeks of chlorine.

The guiding principle of the right-hand column is "Knowledge is power – understanding to shape and heal." Anyone wanting to know what this statement means in practice should ask Fritz Haber. The same mind that synthesized ammonia from air, thus making bread possible for billions, released chlorine gas over the trenches near Ypres in 1915 and received the Nobel Prize in 1918. Bread from air, death from air, the same reaction equation, the same department. This isn't a lapse in chemistry; it's its principle in its purest form: cause and effect, without any inner dimension, without questioning the meaning of the transformation. Paracelsus, the last great alchemist with practical experience, wrote in 1538 that all things are poison, and only the dose makes a thing not a poison . Today, the dose is no longer determined by the healer, but by the regulatory authority, and the price is determined by who holds the patent. How a decades-old drug can be transformed overnight into a preparation worth thousands of dollars is the only transmutation this profession still masters. Lead to gold, only this time the lead is the patient.

The Alchemy of Heretics, or When Chemistry Lost Its Soul

The Athanor is within you

The tablet is still right when it calls both paths an essence. Only, the essence isn't in the middle, but rather in the far left corner, among the questions that chemistry no longer asks: Who am I? What is the meaning of transformation? Chemistry asks what the world is made of and how knowledge can be used, and that is precisely the vocabulary of any administration that wants to make you useful. The alchemist needed no ethics committee, no licensing, no laboratory with an access card. His furnace was his own, his test subject was himself, and his only examiner was death, the ancient forerunner who initiates every Nigredo. This is precisely why this art was declared heresy and its soulless half crowned science. Domination is not a law of nature , but it loves natural laws because responsibility can be hidden behind them. That transformation is possible without an intermediary remains the true heresy, and the black stone they sell you as a threat is the same one the adepts knew as the beginning of the work. Chemistry can tell you what you're made of. What you're meant to become, it can only sell you. Two paths, one essence, and the key to it, they've melted into a periodic table. Anyone who still asks what the meaning of transformation is is considered an esotericist; anyone who pushes gas across ditches is a laureate. The furnace never went out; they just put it in a factory and charged you for access…

Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it. It's hard for me to describe what I'm actually doing here, DravensTales has become a culture blog, music blog, shock blog, tech blog, horror blog, fun blog, a blog about found items on the internet, internet bizarre, trash blog, art blog, water heater, zeitgeist blog over the years , Scrap blog and grab bag blog called. Everything that is right ... - and yet not. The main focus of the blog is contemporary art, in the broadest sense of the word.
