There's a profession that has sprung up out of nowhere in the last ten years and has since dictated what you're allowed to think: the fact-checker. They don't wear a uniform, but preach obedience. They call themselves independent, but live off government funding. And their most important invention isn't the truth, but its opposite, complete with a seal of approval.

The Fact-Makers: How the State Outsources Its Muzzle

Anyone who wants to mass-produce lies needs a system that authenticates them as truth. This is precisely what business journalist Norbert Häring has uncovered through years of research, and his findings are as sobering as they are disturbing. What he describes is not a back room full of conspirators, but an open network of supposedly independent organizations that determines which views are permissible and which are declared "fake news." The underlying formula is offensively simple.

The trick with the outsourced muzzle
Häring sums up the principle in a sentence that should be prominently displayed above one's desk: The state outsources what it is not allowed to do itself to organizations it finances, influences, or regulates. This is unconstitutional suppression of opinion, outsourced to associations with respectable-sounding names. Because, according to the Basic Law, the state is not allowed to censor. But a state-funded foundation that reports, blocks, or labels critical voices as disinformation is apparently allowed to do so. This is then called not censorship, but the fight against hate and incitement, and anyone who opposes it is already considered suspect.

This construct didn't begin yesterday. It dates back to 2014, when a research collective was founded in Germany by someone close to a governing party, and quickly became a pillar of the state-controlled truth apparatus. Three years later, the same collective was allowed to decide, on behalf of a US corporation, which posts from two billion users would be labeled as misinformation. The responsible Minister of Justice had previously invented the convenient category of "manifestly illegal" content, allowing them to easily bypass the courts. Convenient when the law gets in the way.

The Fact-Makers: How the State Outsources Its Muzzle

A tranquilizer with bureaucratic charm
The extent of this self-irony is revealed by a detail that couldn't be made up: When the EU Commission established its fact-checking network in 2018, it named it "SOMA," of all things. This is the name given in Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" to the drug administered to the masses to keep them calm and content. Anyone who names their censorship apparatus after the literary symbol of mass narcosis either lacks a shred of self-awareness or possesses a rather dark sense of humor. Neither is reassuring. The EU fact-checking network EDMO demonstrates just how independent this network is: founded, indirectly financed and controlled by the EU Commission, also funded by a fund that Google has filled with 25 million euros. So the same hand that orders the result is turning the tap.

In practice, there are numerous documented cases where fact-checkers labeled something as false, while sources proved otherwise . These cases didn't involve obscure blogs, but rather major media outlets, from the Tagesschau (Germany's main evening news program) and various news agencies to public broadcasters. The "finding of truth" reliably operates in one direction: what suits the government is considered fact. What doesn't suit them is deemed misleading. A truth that always ends where the interests of the powerful begin is not truth, but rather a set of rules.

Why cash in particular?
Before Häring began scrutinizing opinion leaders, he spent years defending a seemingly harmless topic: cash. His Research on the international campaign against cash This led to a legal battle that went all the way to the European Court of Justice because he wanted to pay his broadcasting fee in cash, which he wasn't allowed to do. It sounds like splitting hairs, but it's the crux of the matter. Cash is the last payment method that no one monitors. If it's abolished, every bread roll receipt becomes a data record. Häring puts it succinctly: The bank account will become "a logbook of our entire lives," still accessible ten years later. Here, Häring first encountered the mechanism he would later describe on a grand scale: Whoever wants to control you sells you control as protection. Why the fight against cash is, in reality, a Fighting against your freedom isI have already dissected this in detail here.

The Fact-Makers: How the State Outsources Its Muzzle

The connection between financial surveillance and opinion manipulation is no coincidence, but rather the same logic in two suits: What belongs to you—your voice and your money—should become visible, controllable, and, if necessary, switchable off. And to ensure you accept this, anyone who names the mechanism is considered a crackpot.

That you don't consider yourself powerless
This is where Häring's work becomes uncomfortable, because it doesn't end in a victim pose. I've seen how deep the domestication of the mainstream media goes, using the example of... international censorship apparatus As already outlined, this puts European discourse on a short leash. Häring provides the diagnosis but refuses to resign himself to it. His conclusion: The impression that the control apparatus has reached a scale that renders resistance futile is wrong.

His recipe is strikingly simple, and that's precisely why it works. It doesn't require a revolution, but rather a stance: as soon as some stand up for the freedom of expression of others, even if they find the opinion repugnant, the entire apparatus collapses. For it thrives on the fact that the opposing sides allow themselves to be silenced. An audience that recognizes this trap is the most costly enemy a Ministry of Truth can face.

The question remains: what do you do with this information? And that question is an inward one. You can continue to believe the fact-checkers because it's more convenient than thinking for yourself. You can exchange your cash for an app that tracks your every move. And you can pretend you're powerless because that's the only excuse that absolves you of personal responsibility. Or you can do the opposite. They've built a machine that tells you what's true, what you pay with, and how you're supposed to think, and they call that "democracy"!

Dravan flag NEW square 300 2"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced reporting in the press politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it. However, you are welcome to simply copy and distribute the content, my blog has always been under the WTFPL license.

It's hard for me to describe what I'm actually doing here, DravensTales has become a culture blog, music blog, shock blog, tech blog, horror blog, fun blog, a blog about found items on the internet, internet bizarre, trash blog, art blog, water heater, zeitgeist blog over the years , Scrap blog and grab bag blog called.
