In the following 1977 interview with Dr. Robert O. Becker, broadcast on the program "60 Minutes," he explains his opposition to the U.S. Navy's "Seafarer" project (also known as Sanguine). The Navy's plan involved laying 3862 kilometers of antenna cable across an area of 10,372 square kilometers to provide submarines with extremely low frequency (ELF) signals. While the Navy asserted the project's "absolute safety," Dr. Becker warned that these weak electromagnetic fields could interfere with the body's natural electrical signals and potentially lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and developmental disorders.
Dr. Becker highlighted a 1973 report that, according to him, the Navy attempted to cover up. This report documented clear effects on animals and humans, including stress and a significant increase in serum triglycerides. He argued that science was biased, as it only acknowledged damage from heat or electric shocks and ignored the subtle effects of low-dose radiation on biological systems. The video also shows that funding for research projects that demonstrated these adverse effects was suddenly cut off—a pattern that ultimately led to the closure of laboratories like Becker's.
1977 vs. Today
When Dr. Becker issued his warning in 1977, he was focusing on a huge marine antenna and high-voltage power lines. At that time, exposure to artificial electromagnetic fields was still distant and occurred only occasionally. Today, these fields are much closer and active around the clock. Most people now carry a transmitter in their pocket, sleep near a Wi-Fi router, and live near 5G and 6G cell towers, which are erected at regular intervals.
The safety regulations for this technology have not been updated since 1996. These outdated rules only protect against thermal damage, meaning they only consider whether the radiation is strong enough to heat the body. They ignore the biological damage identified by Dr. Becker, such as DNA stress, which occurs at significantly lower doses of radiation and without any heat generation. In 2021, a federal court even ruled that the FCC acted unlawfully by maintaining these 1996 rules, as the government ignored thousands of pages of research on how 5G and other wireless signals affect children and the environment.
There is a fundamental difference between natural and artificial radiation. Natural energy from the Earth is random and disordered. Artificial radiation from 5G and 6G, on the other hand, is "polarized," meaning it pulsates in a specific, predetermined pattern. This places a constant strain on our cells in a way that does not occur in nature. Although the industry claims that these 5G and 6G radiation levels are harmless, they are still based on a 1996 reference value that was never designed for today's world.
