On September 14, 2026, the US Secretary of the Air Force stood before a hall full of defense industry representatives and uttered the sentence that forty years of space diplomacy had been trying to prevent: The Space Force possessed weapons in Earth orbit , ready for deployment, today. Not a single treaty was broken. That is precisely the news, and that is precisely what none of the major headlines mention.

Reagan's Star Wars: 1,2 trillion for ten rockets, the press applauds, you burn

While the mainstream media lamented the breaking of a taboo that never legally existed, twelve companies have been working for months to turn Ronald Reagan's 1983 science fiction dream into hardware. The contracts are in place. The money is flowing. The outrage, as usual, comes three years too late.

The treaty does not prohibit precisely what everyone considers forbidden.

The 1967 Outer Space Treaty currently has 116 signatory states . Its Article IV prohibits the placement of nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction in Earth orbit. It makes no mention of conventional weapons in orbit. Kinetic interceptors, jammers, lasers, robotic arms: all permitted since 1967 for every signatory.

Anyone who writes that space militarization is "internationally outlawed" has either never read the treaty or hopes their readers haven't. Both explain the outrage better than any conspiracy theory. The scandal isn't the violation of the law. The scandal is that there was never a law that could have been broken, and nobody told you that for six decades.

Twelve companies, 3,2 billion and an arrow from Tel Aviv

In April 2026, the Space Systems Command announced which companies would be allowed to build the space-based interceptor aircraft: twelve companies, twenty contracts, up to $3,2 billion . Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, General Dynamics, plus the new guard from Silicon Valley: Anduril, SpaceX, and True Anomaly. The Secretary boasted that it took less than a year from the first contract to flight-ready hardware. SpaceX received an additional $4,2 billion in May for the reconnaissance constellation.

The other half of USrael isn't sitting on the sidelines. Israel Aerospace Industries offers the Arrow 3 as a kit for orbital interceptors, those kill vehicles designed to intercept missiles during launch. The Arrow 3 is a joint American-Israeli development and, like Iron Dome and David's Sling, is largely manufactured in the USA. Elbit America is on the missile defense agency's shortlist , and Rafael sells its laser as the only operationally proven system of its kind. Two countries, one supply chain, one order book. Anyone who thinks this represents two separate defense industries also believes that Nestlé and Nespresso are competitors.

The price of this cooperation: In May, the Congressional Budget Office estimated $1,2 trillion over twenty years for 7800 satellites capable of intercepting ten intercontinental ballistic missiles. Ten. The Pentagon insists on $185 billion. Requests for 2027 total $17,5 billion are pending, of which a staggering $398 million will come from the regular budget. The rest depends on a legislative package that doesn't even exist yet. Welcome to the business model of war , space division.

What the decree says and what is made of it

The reliability of our quality press can be particularly well studied in the decree of December 18, 2025. Several newsrooms reported that it referred to a possible deployment of American nuclear weapons in space. Anyone who actually reads the text will find two passages on the subject, and both state the opposite: it concerns the ability to detect and counter the "placement of nuclear weapons in space" by adversaries.

The truly remarkable part is three paragraphs further down and hasn't been quoted anywhere: The decree orders the deployment of nuclear reactors on the moon and in orbit. Article IV doesn't actually prohibit reactors. One would have to have read the document very superficially to print the fabricated sensation and overlook the real one. The same editorial staff that, weeks ago, cobbled together a de-escalation of nuclear war from three lost colonial wars , can't even manage to read four pages of government prose to the end.

The first satellite kill was not one of those

The legend goes that space became a battleground for Moscow and Beijing, a situation observed since 2007. This date is accurate for China. On September 13, 1985, an American F-15 fighter jet shot down a missile into orbit, destroying the Solwind research satellite , twenty-two years before the Chinese. In 2008, the US Navy shot down one of its own spy satellites with a modified interceptor missile . Nevertheless, Russia is far from innocent: in 2024, Moscow blocked the Security Council's reaffirmation of the ban on nuclear weapons in space, and even German government advisors consider the civilian explanation for the Kosmos 2553 satellite implausible. However, none of the three powers is leading this space race without having initiated it themselves.

A specialist from the Secure World Foundation called the announcement deeply destabilizing because no one knows what's orbiting up there. The Secretary declared the wording carefully chosen and declined to comment further. Deterrence today consists of announcing a weapon no one is allowed to describe, against an attack no one can quantify, financed by a law no one passed. You still pay the price, though, because the belt of interceptor missiles above your head is built with taxpayer money and sold as a shield, when in reality it reliably intercepts only one thing: critical questions. Reagan's orbital shield was nicknamed Star Wars by mocking journalists. His successors have it easier: They get newsrooms that don't read the treaty text, don't open the executive order, and don't consult the history books. And then they call that "contextualization"!

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it.
