There are moments when you wish politics were simply satire. Then Antifa comes along – and makes exactly that unnecessary. Donald Trump long ago declared it a terrorist organization. In Germany, however, many still see it as something like the Boy Scouts of Good. Only with black hoods, burning trash cans, and the moral self-image of an inquisition.
While the Netherlands and Hungary have long understood that violence cannot be justified by principles, the German political establishment applauds enthusiastically. SPD Vice Chairman Klingbeil outs himself as a "former Antifa member," Green and Social Democratic MPs proudly wear buttons with hammer and sickle nostalgia, and when things get really out of hand in the Bundestag, they still cheerfully chant "Alerta, Alerta!" – as if they were at an anti-fascist festival.
But behind the slogan lies a movement that has about as much to do with anti-fascism as a beer mat has to do with philosophy. These self-proclaimed fighters against hate set cars on fire, threaten journalists, beat up dissidents – and are "steadily funded" for it with taxpayers' money.
Moralizing has replaced reasoned argument, and anyone who disagrees is immediately branded a Nazi. Welcome to the new virtue state, where the right attitude trumps law and justice.
Perhaps Trump wasn't so wrong after all: Some revolutions don't end in freedom – but in burning garbage cans.
"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced reporting in the press politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.
My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever
