Now only a few weeks have to pass before the Netflix premiere on May 21, before Dave Bautista (Guradians of the Galaxy), Matthias Schweighöfer and Co. go into battle against bloodthirsty zombies - and not just against them, but As the new trailer reveals, even zombified tigers!

Almost exactly 13 years ago, "Army of the Dead" was first reported on - that was in 2008 and only four years after Zack Snyder's blockbuster Dawn of the Dead, his remake of the George A. Romer classic from the 70s. But the implementation of Army of the Dead proved to be an extremely bumpy and challenging undertaking. Because which studio would take the risk and invest 70 to 90 million dollars in a horror thriller? After all, times were different back then. Horror films that write blockbuster figures, as they occasionally do today (“The Conjuring”, “A Quiet Place” and “Get Out” send their regards), were pie in the sky.

And so for many years no production house wanted to be found that would put money into an expensive zombie film. The only exception was the 2013 release of «World War Z» by filmmaker Marc Forster (When Dreams Learn to Fly), which turned out to be a big box office surprise and ultimately even «Mr. and Mrs. Smith» as the highest-grossing Brad Pitt film of all time. However, the film adaptation of the Max Brooks novel of the same name was designed for PG-13 and was therefore designed primarily for young people, while "Army of the Dead" is deliberately aimed at an adult audience. And so it was to be a few more years before a provider finally took pity on Netflix and gave Snyder almost 100 million US dollars for his "zombie spectacle of epic proportions", which has no shackles.

When «Dawn of the Dead» was released in cinemas in 2004, Snyder was already being celebrated as a new discovery in horror cinema. But the American had other plans and then tried to film various comics. In 2006 and 2009 he mainly implemented adult adaptations such as Frank Miller's "300" or "Watchmen" before he was brought on board by Warner for the Superman revival in "Man of Steal". This was followed on the one hand by the clash of two popular DC comic characters in "Batman vs Superman" and on the other hand by the Avengers competitor "Justice League", which went down in history as a flop in 2017. Financially, the mammoth project fell so far short of its potential that Warner Bros. prematurely pulled the plug on the so-called Snyderverse and declared "Justice League 2" dead.

The departure of Ben Affleck from the role of Batman underpinned this decision, because the bat will be portrayed by Robert Pattinson in the future, provided that his version fills cinemas in 2022. Nevertheless, 2021 seems to be an excellent year for Snyder, since with “Army of the Dead” not only his heart project is finally appearing, but also his Director’s Cut (better known as Snyder Cut) of «Justice League» can be experienced.

"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced reporting in the press politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it. However, you are welcome to simply copy and distribute the content, my blog has always been under the WTFPL license.

It's hard for me to describe what I'm actually doing here, DravensTales has become a culture blog, music blog, shock blog, tech blog, horror blog, fun blog, a blog about found items on the internet, internet bizarre, trash blog, art blog, water heater, zeitgeist blog over the years , Scrap blog and grab bag blog called. Everything that is right ... - and yet not. The main focus of the blog is contemporary art, in the broadest sense of the word.
