Halloween is next week again, as inevitably the displays of the consumer temples all over town show.
Again something that has spilled across the pond and will be taken over by us, simply nothing to you. Halloween, one example among many. If you ask an average school class today when it is Reformation Day or All Saints Day, you will be met by concerned silence. But they all know Halloween.
It's almost as if the neo-pagan custom of Halloween (the "Night of the Witches" from October 31st to November 1st) is already being treated as a quasi-holiday here. The media also dealt extensively with Halloween, the closer we get to this date and this every year more, in the form of reports and reports on almost every channel and in almost every newspaper. If things are going so well economically, we could do a few other US holidays as well. How about the third Monday in January, the Martin Luther King Day or the third Monday in February, Washington's Birthday or President's Day called.
