Death is the basis for new growth. Bios Incube wants to make a biodegradable urn that is supposed to provide some afterlife. The urn and ashes can be placed in the Bios Incube incubator after death. On top of this is a control element with a WLAN module, which can be controlled via app and regulates the amount of water supplied from the integrated 11-liter tank, but also analyzes other parameters such as temperature, electrical conductivity of the earth and humidity. This technological support is intended to ensure that a tree actually grows from the seed in the urn, which transfers the ashes of the dead person into a new, living organism. At least if you have a mobile device with an iOS or Android operating system.
Of course, you don't really need the product from Bios Incube, trees grew even when there was no app for it. For city dwellers, however, Bios Incube should be a place where the deceased reliably becomes a tree - and where they can be observed. With the smart urn you can express your connection to nature as well as your love for modern technology. The urn itself currently costs 120 euros, the full package with Bios Incube currently 450 euros, whereby the final price should be between 600 and 700 euros. Worldwide shipping will start in March 2017. You can find more information on the associated Kickstarter project page.
