The "Collateral Murder" video garnered worldwide attention in 2010, showing a US helicopter crew shooting at a group of civilians - including children and a Reuters journalist - while making derisive comments. Bradley Manning was now on trial for precisely this war crime. However, Manning is not one of the shooters, but the US soldier who leaked the video and much more information to Wikileaks. The US government, in all its generosity, was able to bring itself not to sentence Manning to death, but "only" 35 years in prison!
Friends, I am shocked and I want to throw up Barack Obama, notable winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, in the middle of the table in the Oval Office. The Nobel Peace Prize degenerates into a farce when it is worn by a president who shines through activities that violate human and international law:
- Guantanamo: America's torture chamber, which operates beyond the rule of law, is still operating, contrary to Obama's full-bodied promise to close it immediately after he takes office.
- Under Obama's administration, the US military executed several thousand people on foreign territory using remote-controlled drones. Without a process, without a mandate.
- An organization like Wikileaks, a modern form of extinct investigative journalism, is being persecuted like a terrorist organization.
- Certainly there is a lot more, we know some things, but most of them don't ...
Bradley Manning saw this suffering. He saw the cruel, cynical and inhuman acts of brutalized soldiers who no longer mind death and suffering. Bradley Manning didn't look away. Bradley acted and revealed what the mantle of silence should be about. His humanity, his indignation, his despair were the reason that we now know the extent to which WE ALL have been and are being deceived. His example encouraged others not to hide and expose the actions of the intelligence agencies that plan and carry out the world's wars.
Edward Snowden revealed that respect even towards one's own population or the population of friendly states no longer exists. How long do we want to allow these violations of OUR freedom? Which borders will the secret services and states abolish tomorrow and in the future? America remains a country that values maintaining its position of power over the truth. The USA will continue to bombard its "values" into the world if it is worth it in terms of power politics. But one question remains: Which values actually?
Here a young man is being destroyed by our big brother America. We should all be intimidated, silenced, warned. A man who, in my opinion, deserves the Nobel Peace Prize far more than all the Kissingers and Obamas combined. It is enough! Let's stand up against this madness. Against these false wars. Against the power of the secret services. Let's stand together. For Bradley Manning. For a fairer world. Each in his own way. Everyone according to their possibilities. But together and determined.
