MGM is about to open a new chapter in Rocky history, Creed is the title and Apollo Creed was played by Carl Weathers in the first four Rocky films. In the first two parts, he and Rocky were bitter opponents. Best friends in the following films. Since Rocky avenges Creed's death in the fourth part, it is of course a matter of honor that he is also willing to help Apollo's grandson in a spin-off. Rocky will probably not fight a fight himself in the planned spin-off, but at least in the role of coach he will be able to pass on his expertise. The grandson Apollo Creed wants to emulate his late grandpa and tackle the world championship title. To achieve this goal, he turns to Rocky, who has completely retired from boxing. Rocky should train him so that he can survive in the ring.
According to Deadline, the idea for the spin-off didn't come from Sylvester Stallone himself, but rather from Ryan Coogler, the director of Fruitvale Station, which received rave reviews at this year's Sundance Festival. Meanwhile, Coogler is working on a script for Creed and will most likely direct it as well. A main actor for Creed has already been found. It's supposed to be Michael B. Jordan, who already starred in Fruitvale Station and will probably appear to a wider audience in "Chronicle - What Are You Capable Of?" is known. In addition to Sylvester Stallone, who is said to be enthusiastic about the idea, Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff will also act as producers.
