"Hard Skool" celebrates the well-known sleaze rock that made the Gunners so successful. There is almost nothing else to say about this song. Or yes: The succinct statement that "Hard Skool" is already a few years old, but there is another anecdote behind the track. The origins go back to 1996. In an interview with Howard Stern at the time, McKagan said the band was in the studio working on new material to contribute music for a Jackie Chan film. Nothing came of it and so the tapes ended up in the archives of manager Tom Zutaut, where they languished in a locker for a while. It's just stupid that Zutaut didn't pay the rent for that very thing. The contents of the compartment were then foreclosed upon and fell into the hands of GNR fan Rick Dunsford. Shortly thereafter, "Hard Skool" ended up online, although it is still unclear whether Dunsford can be held responsible for the leak. End of story: Rick received a lifetime ban from Guns N' Roses shows from the very top. It's called "Hard Skool"...

It should be clear that running dravenstales.ch takes a lot of time and costs. To cover costs and maybe a free drink or two, I could plaster the whole place with advertising. But I like my readers, which is why I want to offer them a (largely) ad-free reading experience. If you like what's going on and/or what's going on on this website, then it would be nice if you somehow shared the fun here would support, Thank you!
