As a seller in an electronics store, you pose Lyric always the same question: «Which game should I buy now?» After Lyric repeatedly explained the advantages of the "Big Three", Medal of Honor, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Battlefield: BC2, he took the time for Dravens Tales to put the whole thing in writing and so I hand over to him in the following article the word.

Medal of Honor
The newest installment in the Medal of Honor series has received high praise for its realism, and indeed, Medal of Honor has one of the highest levels of realism when it comes to weapons and handling.

The single player mode plays through smoothly and is pleasing. Above all, the "Behind Enemy Lines-Covert Ops" principle seems particularly successful. When you're a Tier 1 fighter, you quickly realize that these people aren't "Hooray America FTW" soldiers, but rather rough, uncouth mercenaries. Already in the first missions of the game you smuggle your way undetected through the rows of enemies until something goes wrong and the shit is gone. Then it is clear, either the opponent or I. The missions flow seamlessly and offer a balanced mix of Tier 1 missions and Army Ranger attacks.

I found it to be a small disadvantage that in the single player mode, especially in the Army segments, you are often confronted with a horde of opponents who storm the player in a never-ending stream. However, the mission only progresses when I have reached a certain save point. So you find yourself running from point to point from time to time without going into great detail about your opponents.

The multiplayer mode is a thing of its own. As already mentioned, MoH is very realistic, the feel, the sound and the optics of the weapons appear almost perfect. However, the game in multiplayer is almost too realistic, 2 hits and you are dead. Even the pistol is almost inevitably deadly and so, especially in the first few rank levels, fast continuous fire seems much more effective than targeted volleys. The game concept itself is also a bit meager, MoH has 3 classes (soldier, engineer / spec-ops, sniper) and leveling is pretty slow.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (including Vietnam add-on)
This game lives from multiplayer, so the single player mode is pretty poor. Well, in contrast to the processes that had a miserable single player or no single player at all, this one is okay and yet hardly worth mentioning compared to the other two games presented here.

The multiplayer mode is all the more ingenious here. Already in the loading screen it is possible to randomly join a squad. The teams always consist of a maximum of 8 squads a max. 4 people. Team play has always been the be-all and end-all at BF, and so it's not surprising that BFBC2 is the only game that has team actions (except for CoD's Last Stand Pro), I have 4 classes to choose from, consisting of assault soldier, engineer, Medic and scout. Everything as before, but there are weapons that are available across all classes, such as the Thompson MP, various shotguns, etc. This has the advantage that the division of tasks between the classes is a bit blurred. For example, I can choose the reconnaissance class and go into hand-to-hand combat with a shotgun, which can make perfect sense in view of the mortar hit and the motion detectors.
In addition to the fun factor, teamplay is also worth points moderately, where as a loner I "only" get 100 points for activating the spot, as a squad member (if I am at the target of the attack) I get additional teamplay/squad points. As a sniper, for example, I can determine the squad's attack targets, which makes sense given my overview and the safety of the distance. Of course, as a defender I also get points for "fulfilling" the squad goal, i.e. defending the flag or similar. Of course I can (in the best Battlefield manner) mark opponents, vehicles, etc., then all my teammates can see my goal, and if someone else is the opponent I get "Spot Assist" points, I also get more points there if the tank was damaged or eliminated by a squad member, for example.

The coolest thing about BFBC2 is, in my opinion, the destructible environment. Was killed for the umpteenth time by a sniper out of a house? No problem, if he doesn't want to come out to play, then just tear down the house with 40mm grenades, a mortar, C4 or an anti-tank weapon. There are few cooler moments than when I pulverize the last load-bearing wall of a house with a 40mm and 5 enemies are buried in the rubble.

The Vietnam add-on is a thing in itself. It's great that the add-on is based on the game, so my rank, my activations, etc. are counted in both games. what sounds complicated is not. For example, if I buy both games new and have unlocked my next weapon as an assault soldier in the main game, I now also have another weapon available in the Vietnam expansion. This guarantees fun and not the conflict "which game should I level up now?"
What is a bit of a hassle, however, as it is generally known that only bamboo huts can be found in Vietnam, you are rarely protected from enemy bullets. Where in the main game a wall offers at least temporary protection, you have damn bad cards in Vietnam as soon as you have been mocked by an opponent, because then bullets hail from everywhere. However, the maps in Vietnam are generally a bit hilly, which makes it easier to take cover.

Call of Duty: Black Ops
Well, in short, the game would actually be very awesome, but Treyarch often fixes the game broken. At the launch I only smiled at the other clan members when they complained about lags, everything went perfectly for me. However, Treyarch recently released a patch, and now every time the speaker says something (and he damn often says something) I have about 1-3 frames (on an Alienware tow top with i7, 8G Ram and Crossfire Grakas) ergo: the game is currently unplayable for me.
Basically CoD: BO offers the best of 2 worlds, the single player is absolutely amazing, but the CoD series has always been the benchmark for all things in this regard. In the latest part, Treyarch manages through a torture procedure, during which we are repeatedly transported into the past in the form of flashbacks, to seamlessly link different times, and this is how the various key dates (outbreak of a gulag, Vietnam war, Cuba crisis) logically strung together.

The multiplayer mode is also a piece of cake, at least in theory. The possibilities are overwhelming, I can buy various weapons, skills (perks), paint jobs, attachments, and much more with one currency, but I can also buy up to 10 levels in a logo designer and create an ingenious logo using the layer principle, that appears next to my name and is unique depending on its complexity. I can also spray the logo on my guns and scratch the clan tag next to it so that anyone who gets their hands on my gun after my death can see who it belongs to. In addition, the shooting rewards are again available in the BO, as they were in Modern Warfare 2.

The so-called wager matches are brand new, where I buy in with an amount and then, if I make the top 3, have a payout. There are game modes that differ from the usual Team Deathmach, CtF. So there is now a GunGame mode (Counterstrike sends its regards) where every player starts with the same weapon and with every kill a weapon rises, with knife kills the killed falls back one rank. Sticks-and-stones is also awesome, where everyone starts with a crossbow (with explosive bullets a là Rambo), a ballistic knife and a tomahawk, and whoever has the most kills at the end wins. However, you have to be careful, because if you are killed by a knife, you will fall back to 0. CoD certainly offers the most variety in terms of online gaming.

Conclusion
Actually there is no clear winner. If you don't play online, MoH is recommended, followed by CoD: BO, then (if need be) BfBC2.
If I want to play online, but don't feel like team play, then CoD: BO is the best choice for me, followed by BFBC2 and finally MoH.
In terms of team play, BFBC2 is clearly the winner, as the other two games do not specifically evaluate team play and do not offer squad management.

Or in other words:

Medal of Honor
+ good single player
+ high realism
- Multiplayer «too realistic»
- level rather viscous (few levels)
- no team play
- «only» 3 classes

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (including Vietnam)
+ Team play based multiplayer
+ Suitable for league play in the clan
+ destructible environment
+ many weapons
+ Cross-class weapons
+ large vehicle fleet (cars, tanks, helicopters)
- No more weapons from around level 25

Call of Duty: Black Ops
+ Awesome single player
+ huge multiplayer
+ Customizable player (weapons, face-paint, logo)
+ Freely configurable classes
+ Wager matches
+ 18 × 50 levels (prestige modes)
- now and then lags
- no team play
- no vehicles (except in shooting rewards)

I hope this is a small overview for you if you are considering whether you should buy one of the "Big Three" games. A small note at the end, the review is subjective and refers to the game impressions I have experienced, for example team play in the clan is important to me, so this is a strong criterion for me, but for others it may not matter at all.

"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced reporting in the press politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it. It's hard for me to describe what I'm actually doing here, DravensTales has become a culture blog, music blog, shock blog, tech blog, horror blog, fun blog, a blog about found items on the internet, internet bizarre, trash blog, art blog, water heater, zeitgeist blog over the years , Scrap blog and grab bag blog called. Everything that is right ... - and yet not. The main focus of the blog is contemporary art, in the broadest sense of the word.
