Claes Bang slips into the role of the Prince of Darkness for the BBC and Netflix. Since the large-scale joint project became public in 2018, there has been speculation as to which path the two Sherlock creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat will take with their new adaptation of the Bram Stoker classic. The trailer for the upcoming miniseries provides possible answers and shows Bang before and after his transformation into Count Dracula, with the setting and clothing speaking for the Victorian era - the period from which Stoker's novel originates.
The Dracula miniseries consists of a total of three episodes, each 90 minutes long. While not a series season in the traditional sense, this is enough to re-imagine Bram Stoker's classic fiction for today's audience. While the BBC is taking care of the broadcast itself in the UK and US&A, all international rights have been ceded to Netflix, which is why the series should make it to us in time for the US premiere. Gatiss and Moffat are hooked and can't wait to bring us their own twist on the groundbreaking original. “There have always been stories about pure evil. What's special about Dracula is that it's the first time evil has been given a form in the form of a hero," they say. We can still speculate about the direction. Like Sherlock, will Gatiss and Moffat take a modern approach and bring the action to the here and now?
