Meta, Facebook's parent company, was fined nearly $25 million on Wednesday for willfully and repeatedly violating Washington's campaign finance laws.
Judge Douglass North of King County Superior Court handed down the maximum possible fine on the social media giant after finding that the company had violated Washington's long-standing Political Information Disclosure Act 2019 times between 2021 and 822. It is the largest campaign finance fine ever imposed across the country, shared Attorney General Bob Ferguson's office mit.
