At the end of the month, on August 23rd to be precise, “Fear The Walking Dead”, the spin-off and companion series to “The Walking Dead” will start on American television. We've put together some new trailers for you, along with some reasons why you should be really excited and why you should definitely check out the new series!
The long-awaited series "Fear The Walking Dead" will soon start on the US channel AMC and some information about the series has already been announced in advance, so we already have a rough idea of what it will be about. It has been repeatedly emphasized that FTWD will be a family drama. We accompany the patchwork family around Madison (Kim Dickens) and Travis (Cliff Curtis) through the apocalypse. Both bring children from previous marriages: Madison is the widow and mother of Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane); Travis has a son, Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie), who lives with his ex-wife Liza (Elisabeth Rodriguez). The drama will be set in the metropolitan city of Los Angeles and will take place a few months before The Walking Dead. So we get accurate insights into the beginning of the apocalypse.
FTWD will give us the opportunity to witness the zombie apocalypse from the very beginning. While in «The Walking Dead» we dive into the already «lost» civilization, in FTWD everything is still normal at the beginning, people go to work as normal, the children go to school, play outside and just go about their normal lives . So people are not at all aware of what is happening around them. Like us in one Teasers could already see, a student of Madison tries to tell her about the virus or the bacterium that probably causes the bizarre disease that seems to be infecting more and more people in the country. He read about it on the Internet. By networking via the Internet using smartphones & Co., it is still easy to get information at this time that is sometimes not necessarily passed on by the government. The only advice Madison has for him is to stop hanging around the internet.
While we are on the next point: In FTWD we will see how the government reacts to this exceptional situation. In the official trailer, which was published as part of the Comic-Con, we could not see the government directly, but we could see certain representatives, such as the police, the fire brigade or the military, on duty against this strange epidemic and also against the healthy one Population. However, we must assume that they will not be able to cope with the epidemic and that no one will be prepared for such a situation. The government does not seem to understand exactly what is behind this disease outbreak. In the trailer it looks like the police and the military are supposed to make sure that nobody gets out of town. But that only leads to more panic and revolutionizes the people locked up in this way!
In FTWD, more children and young people will also be at the center of the action. While «The Walking Dead» – with the exception of Carl – has so far hardly focused on children or young people, here we have three young people in one family, Alicia, Nick and Chris. In addition, Madison and Travis both work in a school. In a video that gave us some behind-the-scenes insights into the making of the film, producer Dave Alpert explained that they also do a lot of filming in a school. How will the children, as a separate group, experience this end-time scenario? In general, it is easier to identify with the people portrayed in «Fear The Walking Dead» than with those from «The Walking Dead». These people have to come to terms with the whole situation and try to keep a clear head. Everything that is a basis in a civilized society is being taken away from them. It's only normal that people with different characters evolve in different ways in this chaos. There will be leaders and there will be villains, some people will try to stick together, others will wait until you sleep to stab yourself in the back with a dagger...
