Fluoride in water at a concentration of 1 part per million increased tooth decay in four large, reliable studies (7%, 22%, 45% and 10%, average 21%).

Fluoride causes cancer
The New Jersey Department of Health found that the number of bone cancer cases in male children was two to seven times higher in areas where the water was fluoridated. Researchers at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) confirmed the bone cancer-causing effects of fluoride at low concentrations in an animal model. A study has also shown that water fluoridation is linked to deaths from uterine cancer.
Fluoride increases the number of hip fractures
Fluoride gradually accumulates in the bones and causes adverse changes in bone structure. Several studies have shown that fluoridation leads to an increase in hip fractures. The tensile strength of the hip is destroyed over time by the absorption of fluoride.
A study published in the journal Brain Research shows that rats that drink just 1 part per million of fluoride (NaF) in water have histological lesions in their brains that resemble Alzheimer's disease and dementia. In addition, there was evidence of possible damage to the blood-brain barrier due to prolonged exposure to fluoride. This study was the third in a series of publications by Varner et al. Brain Research Vol. 784 No. 12 p 284-298 (1998).
