It is increasingly terrible news that reaches us from Ukraine. The images from Bucha of mutilated corpses, including women and children, are hard to bear. Massacres of civilians are war crimes that must be solved and punished. But is it so hard to understand that when atrocities are committed, one should not respond with demands that amount to far worse atrocities? What good will it do if even heavier weapons are delivered and the sanctions against Russia are tightened even further?
Ukraine cannot win the war alone. So they have an interest in getting NATO more and more involved in this war. But that cannot be in our interest because this strategy can be life-threatening for all of us in Europe. It must be in our interest to end this terrible war as soon as possible! Sarah Wagenknecht (Die Linke) thinks: The atrocity pictures from Butscha are not a warning to further escalate the war and violence. They warn that everything must be done to ensure that the guns are silent and the horror does not continue! And the only way to bring this war to an end in the foreseeable future is through negotiations in which both sides move towards one another.
