Happy Birthday L! Yesterday, September 26th, the actress who played Sarah Connor from the first two Terminator cult films turned 57 years old. The first two Terminator films brought her world fame. What would "Terminator" and "Terminator 2 – Judgment Day" have been without them? Could anyone have embodied the role of Sarah Connor like Linda? I do not think so. Especially in the second installment of the action series, she really shone alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, not as a vulnerable chick, but as a one-woman army. Despite all the toughness, she has never lost her feminine side and shows in an impressive way that the character of Sarah Connor has simply gone into her body and soul and was not just any random appearance that was briefly played away without meaning or depth became.
Despite her great successes, she could have made a lot more out of her career, because her filmography reads very mixed. She certainly made the right decisions at the beginning with "Children of Wrath" and "Terminator" when it came to choosing the roles, because these are works that everyone still knows today. Unfortunately, she was not able to consolidate her good reputation with films such as "King Kong Lives" and that was not due to Linda, as her performances were always good. The many awards she has received in her career prove that she understands her craft. Honors and nominations rained down for the role of Catherine in the series "Beauty and the Beast", for "Terminator 2 – Judgment Day" anyway and the performance in the TV film "A Mother's Request" were also praised. But unfortunately it became more and more quiet around her, in "Dante's Peak", alongside Pierce Brosnan, Linda still played the leading role in what is probably one of the best disaster films, but after that we could only rarely see her in popular films.
The filmmakers probably didn't offer any roles that suited her format, and yet it's admirable how she keeps going, doesn't let herself get down and diligently keeps filming. With a bit of luck, she also got a role in a film that is more than just making money, for example in the very successful "Missing in America". And the series appearances in "Immer wieder Jim", "Chuck" or "Weeds - Kleine Deals unter Neighbors", no matter how small they may be, are always a cause for joy. And that's why I wish her a part in a film that does justice to her abilities and maybe even ties in with the peak of her career. Even if that doesn't work anymore, she will always be Sarah Connor, the mother of humanity's future leader in the fight against machine domination - and that's not too bad either. For this reason, here is the following clip of Sarah Connor in T2 as a small tribute.
