In today's View I came across the following statements from editor-in-chief Hannes Britschgi, which absolutely every so-called representative of the people should write behind their ears if they really want to politicize for the people, because this is exactly what they would be in the Bundeshaus in Bern. It can hardly be summed up better than Britschgi:
- When politicians no longer excuse, spoil or correct the result of last Sunday's vote, but accept it democratically,
- When the losers stop calling the winners of the minaret initiative miserable racists, xenophobic fools, stubborn regulars,
- When intellectuals do their utmost before the next vote, speak up and explain their points of view instead of lamenting after a battle has been fought,
- If Muslims respect our legal system without any ifs or buts, at least in this country distance themselves from forced marriage, honor killing and genital cutting,
- When imams stop promoting Sharia law, despising Western democracy and instead preaching our values,
- When Muslim men no longer force headscarves, veils or burqas on their wives in Switzerland, but accept their own style and taste,
- If Muslim parents allow their children to take part in swimming lessons and class camps, thereby respecting the curriculum and everyday school life,
- When secondos give up their macho behavior, be it in the Swiss school, on the Swiss streets or in Swiss discos, and live the Central European standards of decency and mutual respect,
- If the government and the authorities take people's worries and fears about increased immigration seriously and tackle any unresolved issues,
- Then there is no need for prohibitions, no rejection, no hatred. Then we do not need to separate or isolate one another through our beliefs. Then every religion gets the respect, recognition and esteem it deserves. Velvet minarets. In Switzerland too.
It's actually alarming that we have hundreds (!) of politicians and so-called "intellectuals", but none of these self-proclaimed smartasses is able to reflect the voting result of last Sunday so aptly, let alone implement the above-mentioned points. One prefers to apologize, but not in front of one's own people, but externally for the people. Are you crazy? Personally, I'm not really happy with the result from last Sunday either, but I can respect the decision. Do we only have lobbyists, corrupt servants and spineless ass kissers in the important places? I like to say it again and again:
The time of the juggler is over, but where have the able gone?
Hannes Britschgi has probably hit the core of ZEit, especially the first point mentioned, should be internalized by today's politicians.
