Shit! Ronnie James Dio, actually Ronald James Padavona, was probably the most important hard rock and heavy metal singer and was the first to really blow everyone away with his voice, starting with "Rainbow" and moving on to "Black Sabbath". to "Heaven and Hell".
Rainbow? Yes friends, the band with Ritchie Blackmore from the 70s, when Blackmore was fed up with Deep Purple, even produced a small hit with «Man on the silver mountain». But Dio didn't want to make too many pop concessions and so Blackmore and Dio parted ways, Rainbow went pop and Ronnie ended up with a band that just got rid of their singer: Black Sabbath!
With Black Sabbath he recorded the successful album "Heaven and Hell" in 1979, which incidentally saved Sabbath's career and established THE HORNS!!!! And now don't look so puzzled from the laundry! The Horns! Index finger and little finger! The metal hand! The horns! Understood?! Yes, now you know where that came from! Ronnie was of Italian descent and explained that he had been shown this by his grandmother, because that's what the old Italians do against the "evil eye"...
In 1982 Black Sabbath was over and Dio started his own band «DIO» with Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice. Why not? The name was already known anyway and so you could use it for the band right away... And so 10 albums were recorded, a lot of band members were worn out and a band was formed that could now look back on an almost constant 28-year history, with breaks , but still: Very impressive what was left to us from this time!
Ronnie James Dio was actually on tour and had to cancel it because of his poor health and when I heard that Jonschwil would fall into the water for him, it made me think. A rampage pig like Ronnie James Dio practically never canceled a concert, because his fans meant everything to him and they were not to be disappointed. As it became known just a month ago, Ronnie was suffering from stomach cancer. Unfortunately he was getting worse and worse, so that this Sunday he died of this fucking disease. His whole family and many friends were with him when he fell asleep. Rest in Peace, Ronnie James Dio. And a big thank you! A hell of a lot would be missing without you. Like you now ...
