Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, former drummer for legendary British band Motörhead, died yesterday, Wednesday November 11th, at the age of 61. Taylor's former bandmate "Fast" Eddie Clarke released the following message:
My dear friend and brother died last night. He's been sick for a while, but that doesn't make it any easier when the time finally comes. I've known Phil since he was 21 and he was one hell of a cool guy. Luckily we made fantastic music together and I have a lot of fond memories of our time together. Rest in peace, Phil!
Tylor played alongside Clarke and singer Lemmy Kilmister for Motörhead from 1975 to 1984 and 1987 to 1992. He collaborated with Lemmy Kilmister on the great albums On Parole, Overkill and Ace of Spades. The drummer also worked with Iggy Pop, Danzig and WASP. The current cast of cult rockers Motörhead also said goodbye to Taylor via Facebook. "Lil' Philthy", as he is called in the entry, not only played the drums with "rage and determination", he also loved to insult people as "Wazlocks" from time to time and was a role model for, among other things been the punk/metal hair styles of a lot of young guys.
