It wasn't that long ago that people dreamed of having a telephone in every big city and now we have devices warming our pockets that we can actually use to make phone calls. At some point we will definitely be able to spend a relaxing weekend on the moon and everyday augmentation using nanotechnology is no longer that far away. The following short film paints a rather bleak, but unfortunately not unrealistic picture of this, in which the technology can be used without the recipient's consent. Of course, there are also hackers who want to use this to their advantage and/or liberate humanity. The film is by Mike Manning and Wesley Barker, the latter of whom was also on the FFX team for “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” by Luc Besson. Of course, both now hope that the material will be picked up by a major studio and made into a film or series. That would be really cool.
In the near future, nanotechnology administered into the bloodstream can sync with computer apps to augment the human genome. A new law mandating and regulating this once elective procedure meets resistance from hacktivists who are conspiring to thwart the impending roll-out of "Nano version 2.0."
