Universal Pictures has launched RIPD, an adaptation of the popular Dark Horse comic of the same name. Walker (Ryan Reynolds) is an honest cop who dies on an operation, but his soul is not given a rest and he suddenly finds himself in the RIPD (Rest in Peace Department), which is a kind of heavenly police station of the dead. This has set itself the task of capturing rogue souls who refuse to go to the afterlife. This is harder than expected, because the souls hide in living people. At Walker's side is an old gunslinger (Jeff Bridges) with whom he goes on "patrol" from now on, kicking the ass of the unruly dead hiding on earth. But a malevolent demon, masquerading as Bobby Hayes (Kevin Bacon), plans to reverse the one-way street between the world of the living and the dead, with devastating consequences for the earth and the people... That all sounds great and looks fantastic in the trailer. The director of RIPD is Swabian-born Rober Schwentke, who has already shown in four Hollywood productions, including "RED Older, Harder, Better", that he understands his craft. Either way, it looks like a lot of fun...
