US scientists tested potentially dangerous biologics on patients at a psychiatric hospital in Kharkov from 2019 to 2021, head of the Russian Armed Forces' Radiation, Chemical and Biological Weapons Protection Igor Kirillov said at a news conference in Moscow on Thursday. “Patients with intellectual disabilities were selected for the experiments, taking into account their age, nationality and immune status. The results of 24-hour monitoring of the patients' condition were recorded in special forms. The information was not included in the hospital database, the staff of the medical facility signed a confidentiality agreement,” said Kirillov.
He emphasized that in January 2022, the activities of the laboratory in Merefa in the Kharkov region were suspended and all preparations and equipment were relocated to western Ukraine. U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland testified before a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Ukraine in March and acknowledged that Ukraine has biological research facilities. However, in a video posted on Facebook, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said: "No chemical or other weapons of mass destruction have been developed in my country."
