In December, JJ Abrams will open the next chapter in the Star Wars story with "Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker". While "The Last Jedi" was a box office success, it also left many viewers divided and with unanswered questions. It's up to JJ Abrams, the director of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," to answer that question. The first trailer, around two minutes long, not only provides the first clues, but also raises questions. Because what is Rey doing alone on a seemingly deserted desert planet? Does the sequel's name allude to her parents and origins, or is it a clever lead to mislead fans?
What is certain is that in "Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker" there will be a final reunion with the surprisingly deceased Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. The trailer shows a brief scene between Leia and Rey, who are embracing each other in mourning. Observant viewers will also recognize the blaster Han Solo gave Rey as a gift in the last film, as well as the repaired lightsaber. Visible cosmetic corrections have also been made to Kylo Ren's well-known mask, who is more keen than ever to destroy Rey – isn't he? We won't know for sure until the theatrical release on December 19, 2019.
