Like officially confirmed, Tim Miller and James Cameron's soft reboot of the Terminator series will hit theaters on October 24, 2019 under the name «Terminator: Dark Fate». This was briefly discussed as a working title, but was still used with reservations at the time. Now it is certain: The "dark fate" that such franchise veterans as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton have to face will also adorn the cinema posters and title lettering.
"Dark Fate" ties historically directly to the events of "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". This has the advantage that Miller doesn't have to deal with the ballast of "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines", "Terminator: Salvation" or "Terminator: Genisys". As is well known, James Cameron, who has returned as a producer, had nothing to do with them. That makes Terminator 6 more of a kind of Terminator 3. The film was shot in Spain, among other places. The franchise reboot itself, however, is set against the backdrop of Mexico and tells the story of how a cheeky young Mexican named Dani Ramos is being pursued by a new type of Terminator. This time Gabriel Luna (Freeheld) is in the skin of the killing machine, while Natalia Reyes was able to snap up the female lead of Dani Ramos.
Joining Hamilton are newcomers Mackenzie Davis as Grace and Natalia Reyes as Dani Ramos. The latter is pursued by a new terminator in the reboot, which in turn brings Sarah Connor onto the scene. The new Terminator, Gabriel Luna, is known as the current embodiment of Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider in "Marvel's Agents of Shield". The Texas-born American previously starred in the El Rey Network series "Matador" and the second season of HBO's "True Detective". His colleague Tim Miller (Deadpool) is sitting in the director's chair.
