The last films had a little too much lollypop fuss and too little action for my taste. What we see here in this reboot trailer makes a completely different impression. Dark and threatening and rough and dirty and such. Like everything that hit the screen in the last five years, especially in the comic book segment. Yes, we know cinema is a reflection of society and yes, it has gotten dirtier and tougher in the last few years.
Nevertheless, I can't believe the Dark Knight-like reboot of Spiderman because it doesn't do Spiderman for me. Batman has always been the dark knight, but Spiderman is "Your FRIENDLY Neighborhood" Spiderman, always with a smug saying on his lips. He is the constant comic relief nerd who throws out stupid punchlines and makes fun of the situation, even in the most threatening situations. Spiderman never pretends to compete against depraved society as such, but simply remains comic fiction.
Of course he also has a "dark" past, his uncle more or less died because of his failure to help and with great power comes great blah, but Spiderman is and will not be a dark avenger of the night - as you can see from the colorful costume. If you really want a dark Spiderman, you should make do with Venom - because he's the perfect counterpart. Personally, I like the civil war-like conditions in comic book films, but that just doesn't fit Spidey...
