The ultra-brutal series adaptation of The Boys, the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Darick Robertson, was produced for Amazon Prime by the duo behind the series Preacher, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. But this heroic series is not like any other, as the following trailer shows, which is peppered with gory scenes and dark humor. This clearly distinguishes "The Boys" from the well-known Marvel or DC competition and does not want to fit the usual clean man image at all. The supposed heroes turn out to be egocentric decals who, intoxicated by power and fame, live out their dark side. But that changes abruptly when Billy Butcher and his so-called "The Boys" come on the scene, who are supposed to take a closer look at their activities.
The "taboo-free" series, brimming with violence and sex, was originally discontinued after just six volumes because Wildstorm, a DC Comics label, feared that the series could damage the superhero image. As a result, «The Boys» came under Dynamite Entertainment, where 2012 volumes were published by the end of 72. Seth Rogen (This Is the End) and Evan Goldberg's film adaptation features a number of prominent names, including Karl Urban (Riddick, Dredd) as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid (Rampage) as Hughie and Laz Alonso as Mothers Milk.
