In the near-future apocalyptic sci-fi horror flick «The Devil Conspiracy», a powerful biotech company has developed a method to clone historical figures from human history using just a few fragments of DNA. However, the process is so expensive that only the Elon Musks and Jeff Bezos of this world can afford to bid on clones of Galileo or Michelangelo in secret auctions. But the truth is that the company belongs to a Satanist cult and it has only one goal: the return of Lucifer!
However, since he wasn't human and they can't clone him, they hatched a perfidious plan instead: they steal the Shroud of Turin, the holy relic in which Jesus' body was supposedly buried after his crucifixion. From this they want to extract Jesus' DNA and have the kidnapped US art history student Laura (Alice Orr-Ewing) carry the Jesus child with the aim of presenting the cloned Jesus as the ultimate victim of Satan and thus conjuring up him. But the church does not give up without resistance and the priest Marconi (Joe Doyle), who was killed when the shroud was stolen, hands over his body with his last breath to the archangel Michael (Peter Mensah), who is supposed to stop the Satanists and Lucifer.
Directed by Nathan Frankowski (To Write Love on Her Arms) and written by Ed Alan, The Devil Conspiracy celebrated at the International Fantastic Film Festival in Brussels in September and will hit North American theaters on January 13th. The film doesn't have a German release date yet, but we can show you the first trailer below, which looks like a slightly (but only slightly) more expensive The Asylum production. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued by this insane plot...
