The Eagleman Stag

Mit seiner Dissertationsarbeit «The Eagleman Stag" has Michael Please won dozens of awards, most recently even the BAFTA Award, and this short film is definitely one of the best animated films I've ever seen. This applies to the conceptual work, the story-telling, the outstanding photography and, last but not least, the effort to shoot this film entirely in stop motion. Everything in this film is cut out of paper, cardboard or a special foam and animated almost perfectly.

Basically, this clip is about aging, about the fact that memories of individual periods of time become smaller and smaller as you get older, how you perceive time as passing faster and about people's obsession with stopping or reversing this process. As I said, absolutely great, interesting, stimulating and brilliantly implemented.
