Clark Griswold, his wife Ellen and their two children Audrey and Rusty are looking for a suitable, large Christmas tree, which they eventually find in a forest. Clark felled a replacement tree in the neighborhood, damaging his neighbors' home. A squirrel jumps at the neighbor who has come with a complaint, which Clark chases out of his house, followed by the Rottweiler of the Johnsons.
