This is a wonderful, and thanks to the music also very coherent, compilation of classic video games in which the gamer forgot to press pause, which often causes the characters to do something. What do video game sprites do when you keep your fingers off the controller? Mostly waiting. How do you wait? You stand there casually, eat a sandwich or break through the fourth wall, which means you turn almost directly to the viewer. And how many wonderful memories it brings back. What am I not sitting in front of video games for hours and watching the characters what they do when nobody is pulling their puppet strings? Almost never, actually, but it did happen that Sonic tapped his foot on the floor in annoyance. Snip from Youtube:
An homage dedicated to the Super Nintendo & my childhood. The idea of the video is as the title suggests. The sprites that are featured in the video are seen in their idle animations or left alone to be pummeled, etc. I tried fitting in as many games as I could that featured sprites in a classic side-scrolling style. Besides being zoomed in, all of the footage is in it's original emulated state / speed without manipulation. Quite a few of the games had multiple characters to choose from. For the most part, I tried keeping it to one selection per game. One thing that I focused on was choosing female characters, there aren't that many female stars in video games… So, some majority fan favorites were left out…
