Forty years after «The Shining», Danny Torrance has now grown up and Mike Flanagan continues his story in the chilling horror sequel «Doctor Sleep». And that, the trailer promises, takes us right to where it all began! Connoisseurs of the original film, hated by Stephen King, will recognize it instantly, heading back to the infamous Overlook Hotel as a traumatized Dan (Ewan McGregor) confronts the horrors of his childhood - faithfully remastered and modernized as if none had existed since then only day passed! And this despite the fact that the cursed walls at the beginning of Stephen King's novel have long since been razed to the ground. Flanagan's film attempts to honor both Kubrick's vision and King's novels, resulting in a whole new creation that still has the Overlook Hotel in its rightful place. In Doctor Sleep, for example, we revisit the snowy labyrinth where Dan's father, Jack Torrance, masterfully played by Jack Nicholson, met his end, to face a chase with new villains like that of Rebecca Ferguson (Men in Black: International, Greatest Showman) played Rose the Hat.

Flanagan is no stranger to Stephen King film adaptations. For Netflix he was allowed to film his "Gerald's Game" (The Game). The American had his big breakthrough with the sophisticated ghost horror "Oculus", followed by "Hush", "Before I Wake", "Ouija: Origin of Evil" and the hit series "Haunted Hill House", which was also staged for Netflix ». Although the trailer focuses primarily on Ewan McGregor (The Impossible, Moulin Rouge, Trainspotting) and his character Danny Torrence, it also brings prominent colleagues such as Jacob Tremblay and Rebecca Ferguson (The Greatest Showman) with it.
