The brand new trailer sets an example and confirms the theatrical release in our latitudes, which is scheduled to take place on January 27, 2022. In "Morbius" from Life director Daniel Espinosa, Jared Leto (Joker from "Suicide Squad") takes on the tragic role of Dr. Michael Morbius, desperate for an effective antidote to his rare, potentially fatal disease. The action-packed trailer, which is around three minutes long, the featurette and vignette take us into the world of the eponymous doctor.
The sick doctor's only hope: the age-old legend of a legendary place. But his journey there has unexpected side effects. Because since his recovery, Dr. Michael Morbius plagued by an irrepressible thirst - for the blood of his fellow men. That makes him the first human vampire and one of the most unusual characters in the Marvel universe. Disgusted by his own thirst for blood, Morbius swears that in future he will only drink from the criminals and fiends of this world. And he makes use of this resolution in the first featurette! So while he gets to know some of his newfound abilities and researches them extensively, the now supernatural being loses control again and again whenever his stomach growls. Will Morbius get a grip on himself in time before the blood of innocent people flows?
Of course, Morbius' nefarious attacks do not go unnoticed for long and so in the course of the cinema spin-off he encounters adversaries and companions such as Jared Harris (The Quiet Ones, The Terror), Matt Smith (Patient Zero, The Crown) and Adria Arjona. Morbius is (as the logo at the end of the official trailer promises) an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens the door for later crossover appearances in other MCU films - of course, this is particularly pleasing to fans of the exciting template and the Marvel films that to be released in theaters by Disney. Matt Sazama (Power Ranger, Netflix 'Lost in Space) and Burk Sharpless (Gods of Egypt, Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter) wrote the script for the film. After Venom, Morbius is already the next attempt to establish a rather dark hero universe beyond the usual comic clean men. Whether Jared Leto is as well received by audiences as the bloodsucker as the film with Tom Hardy as Venom will be shown in the cinemas in a few months.
The antihero was introduced in the 101st issue of Amazing Spider-Man. Morbius then appeared in various Marvel titles such as "Vampire Tales" or "Adventure Into Fear" before he was even immortalized in his own comic book called "Morbius the Living Vampire" in 1992. Launched in 1971, the original was the first Amazing Spider-Man edition not to be written by Stan Lee. The solo series lasted 32 issues and was expanded by a sequel in 2013.
