Baby knows best! In “Prevenge,” a pregnant woman murders because the baby tells her to. There are certainly a few horror films about people possessed by ghosts, demons or creatures, but there aren't that many about a murderous baby. Alice Lowe, who we know from two of the three films in the Cornetto trilogy and also directed here, also plays a totally charming role here and anyway I like this touch of British humor about it. I believe the many words of praise that are shown in the trailer and suspect that this is a really great film. The film has been shown at a few film festivals so far, but unfortunately there is no release known for our region yet.
A pitch black, wryly British comedy from the mind of Alice Lowe, Prevenge follows Ruth, a pregnant woman on a killing spree. It's her misanthropic unborn baby dictating Ruth's actions, holding society responsible for the absence of a father. The child speaks to Ruth from the womb, coaching her to lure and ultimately kill her unsuspecting victims.
Struggling with her conscience, loneliness, and a strange strain of prepartum madness, Ruth must ultimately choose between redemption and destruction at the moment of motherhood.
