"The Killing Tree" is about a grieving widow who wants to use a magic spell to bring her executed husband back from the world of the dead so that he can finally take revenge on those responsible for his disappearance from the realm of the living . But when trying to revive her better half and channel his soul into a male body, something goes wrong - and so the deceased sick psychopath ends up in a Christmas tree of all places. But the new look doesn't bother the serial killer, since he's only interested in one thing anyway - revenge!
And in this regard, his outfit, which takes some getting used to, actually suits him quite well, as the trailer for the slasher suggests. In it, one or the other death scene is even spoiled. In all likelihood, this will be released in the USA on November 1, 2022 – quite early considering that Halloween is celebrated the day before and Christmas is almost two months away.
The killing Christmas tree was staged by filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who probably produces his films on an assembly line. The director, who exclusively realizes low-budget works, has already completed three projects this year alone - four more are in the post-processing phase, including the anything but family-friendly children's book adaptation "Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey", where the actually so lovable, honey-eating bear is transformed into a terrible monster.
And with the fairy tale film “Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare”, Frake-Waterfield is already shooting his eighth feature film in just one year. The tempo naturally raises the question of what that means for quality, because quantity obviously has priority here. Will "The Killing Tree" still turn out to be a little trash gem that's fun?
