While "The Walking Dead" and spin-off "Fear the Walking Dead" dealt with the present and the past, the second offshoot series announced in the spring now focuses on the "first generation that will grow up in this new, dangerous environment." Accordingly, young adults and children in particular set the tone in the series (working title: "Monument", but is also called "A New World"). Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) will direct the pilot to film.
The cast is led by Alexa Mansour (“Unknown Users: Dark Web”), Nicolas Cantu (“The Amazing World of Gumball”) and Hal Cumpston (“Bitched”), all of whom bring their little quirks with them. Mansour's character is described as a good-natured rule-breaker who lives in the here and now, while Cantu's role "appears much too small for his age, but is mentally far superior to the others." The historical background holds a lot of potential for conflict: who will be good and who will be evil? This is expected to be found out in 2020 as part of a ten-part first season. Scott M. Gimple promises a spin-off teeming with new locations, zombies, and stories. This should make "Monument" feel very different than the two previous series in the "The Walking Dead" universe. The showrunner of the second spin-off is Matt Negrete, one of the writers and producers of the last five seasons of «The Walking Dead». He is someone whose innovative ideas have led to some of the most exciting "The Walking Dead" moments in recent years. There is no release date yet...
