In ten years of «The Walking Dead» one question has remained unanswered: What is this new world order doing to the adolescents? Not everyone was lucky enough to see the world before the zombie apocalypse, as was the case with Rick Grimes' offspring Carl. For them, the ever-lurking threat of the walking undead is part of their tough everyday life. "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" is its own spinoff that deals with exactly this question. What happens when the first generation to grow up in this world moves out to assert themselves in this dangerous, deadly environment? The answer will be available from April 12, 2020!
In the following trailer we see Huck (Annet Mahendru), Iris (Aliyah Royale), Felix, Elton (Nicolas Cantu) or Silas (Hal Cumpston) on forays through the zombie apocalypse. The youthful protagonists and themes make «The Walking Dead: World Beyond» zombie horror meets coming-of-age story! And something else makes this spinoff special: Instead of expanding the topic over countless seasons, it is already clear that "World Beyond" will be limited to two seasons, no matter how big or small the success is in the end. This allows the authors, including ex-“The Walking Dead” showrunner Scott M. Gimple and Matthew Negrete, to take a new approach with a fixed expiration date, which should not least benefit the arc of suspense and the dramaturgy.
One of the biggest criticisms of the mother series, the idle running that sometimes gets out of hand, remains. With a limited duration miniseries, this problem should be a thing of the past. The final should be coming up next year. Thanks to the Amazon Prime deal, "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" will also be on the air with us parallel to the US start. "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" focuses on the lives of adolescents and young adults, which are lined with loss, death, suffering and ruin, for an initial period of ten episodes. In this timeline, which starts about ten years after the outbreak of the apocalypse, the worst seems to be over. While undead are still ubiquitous, they are much rarer and have become more sluggish. However, the main focus is on the individual characters and their development. Because in "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" they are still at the very beginning of their own story.
