1992's 'Universal Soldier' was followed by 1999's 'Universal Soldier: The Return' and now Van Damme seems nailed to the role and is now returning John Hyams (the son of Peter Hyams) Reboot returns to the big screen with Dolph Lundgren and Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski in "Universal Soldier: Regeneration". The film looks like a typical B-movie and thus a direct-to-DVD release, but who the fuck cares, the film is watched. So much for the trashy plot:
When a team of former Soviet radicals seizes Chernobyl and threatens to unleash a lethal cloud of radioactive gas one hundred times deadlier than Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined, the US military brings in a bio-mechanically enhanced super soldier, Luc Deveraux (Jean-Claude Van Damme ), to foil the plot.
As Deveraux fights his way into the plant, he faces off with his now revived former nemesis, Andrew Scott (Dolph Lundgren), and a newly 'updated' Next Generation Unisol (former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski), in a battle of battles, and must save the day.
But there is one thing I do ask myself, why is Jean-Claude Van Damme getting more J no better roles? To be honest, I'm kind of sorry for him, especially when you look at Mickey Rourke ...
The JCVD was really awesome….
However, when I think of the monologue to the viewer, perhaps more to myself, it is a key scene in this film. A monologue about Hollywood, about the media, about yourself. These approx. 5 minutes are perhaps the strongest thing Jean-Claude Van Damme has achieved in his film career ...
The brutal honesty in this 5 minute monologue hits you in the face with a pleasantly unpleasant feeling.
as a matter of fact
I wonder how much of himself is in this monologue and how much has been added / adapted by scriptwriters.
But no matter ... as you say ... this is THE scene par excellence ...
Like you, I asked myself at the scene how much was added and how much of JCVD is really in it. However, the scene is more than just awesome
Too bad my trackback got lost on the way
