Since the midseason finale of season 6 "The Walking Dead" countless spoiler rumors have been circulating about how the second half of the current season could continue. Episode 9 (No Way Out) will serve everything that TWD fans love about the series: emotions, death, terror, shock, zombies,... The full program! Find out here what the synopsis, first reviews and trailer tell us about episode 9.
The midseason finale ended with some trouble spots, like Alexandria in the storm of the Walker herd, who maul everything in their way there, the "Saviors" and their leader Negan, who Daryl & Co. at the beginning of season 9. Get to know the episode... In short, the future of "The Walking Dead" doesn't look too rosy for Rick, Daryl and the others! As always, the synopsis for episode 9 doesn't tell us much: «While trying to escape from Alexandria, Rick and his group get into trouble when suddenly a loud noise lures Walker in their direction. That could have fatal consequences for them." Since the 8th episode, we can imagine which “loud noise” will attract the walkers. There Sam suddenly started calling loudly for his "Mom" while fleeing through the Walker herd. We don't learn anything about the 'Saviors', who are still hanging around outside the ASZ in the presence of Daryl & Co. Nothing! This synopsis is completely useless for loyal TWD fans to say the least! That's why we took a closer look at a few pre-reviews and have collected some more information about what's happening in episode 9.
In addition to the little "flirt" with the Saviors, we can expect proper walker action in episode 9 in the first place. The first review of episode 9 says: "If you thought you've seen a lot of walkers so far... NOPE!" In the midseason premiere, the streets of Alexandria are said to be literally "flooded" by the walker herd and thus ensure an emotional roller coaster ride that has washed away. Scenes inside the protective walls, or their remains, and the shots of the world outside should also be balanced, so that we can certainly continue to follow the story of Daryl, Abraham, Sasha & the Saviors. In the first 8 episodes, we rarely saw TWD star Norman Reedus in his role as Daryl Dixon. That should change after the midseason premiere! But that doesn't necessarily have to be a good thing. In an interview, Norman Reedus already compared the upcoming episodes to an arrow that gains more and more momentum until it hits somewhere with full force! Blatant announcement, considering that the arrival of the "long-awaited" "Saviors" and their leader Negan was already dubbed the "nuclear bomb" by TWD inventor Robert Kirkman.
'We've taken Norman quite a bit! He's very scary in the coming half, but there are also a few moments where he made me laugh out loud. There's a lot to see from Daryl and we'll see a diverse range of him." according to showrunner Scott M. Gimple. So it could be that Daryl gets a little darker than we know him in the upcoming episodes. In particular, one more piece of information makes the concerns grow. TWD actor Norman Reedus revealed that Daryl will soon be returning to Alexandria and planning a "little adventure" with Rick for two. This could be related to the new community, 'Hilltop', which will soon play a bigger role for the Alexandrians. Maybe this interaction between Daryl and Rick is about taking on the Saviors and Negan and taking back what's owed them. Will Rick & Daryl perhaps even roam the country like "Robin Hood"? If that's the plan, we can definitely imagine who would be more than happy to fight alongside them. Luckily, Rick & Co. will soon get active support from Paul "Jesus" Monroe to fight against Saviors, Negan, Hilltop and - the Walker herd.
One thing can be predicted with confidence, in episode 9 we will have to say goodbye to one or the other series character, as Robert Kirkman already confirmed when he spoke of "so many dead" in the midseason premiere. For example, the happiness of a peaceful death is unlikely to be granted to Deanna, at least that is what a promo photo posted by AMC on Instagram suggests. In the eighth episode finale, Deanna is left by the group in a house with a gun, where she is supposed to shoot herself. Instead, she uses the soon-to-be-depleted magazine in dubious self-defense from an invading zombie horde, leaving Deanna's ultimate fate unclear. The promotional photo shows a body deformed beyond recognition in a zombie fashion, on which two distinctive pieces of jewelry can be seen: a wedding ring and a necklace, both of which were always part of the character of Deanna Monroe... so the zombie existence remains Deanna not spared. The rest of the crew will see her again on Monday February 15th. Then AMC will show episode nine, after which everything will be different and after which we can look forward to a completely new beginning, which will also include discovering new communities and exciting new personalities - true to the motto "A Larger World".
