With just a few days left until the start of «The Walking Dead» Season 6B, AMC has now released the first four minutes of the midseason premiere, which you can watch here! In addition, a new key art shows that Rick's son Carl will have to brace himself for a severe blow of fate in the future.
On Sunday, February 14, 2016, the American broadcaster AMC will broadcast the second half of the sixth season of «The Walking Dead», which will air on Monday, February 15 on FOX. Of course, the previous eighth episode had left us with a cliffhanger: Rick, Carl, Michonne, Father Gabriel, Ron, Jessie and Sam, hand in hand and covered in Walker guts, had set out to traverse the herd incognito before Sam suddenly started yelling louder and louder for his "mom"... Robert Kirkman had already announced that episode 9 would take us right back to where episode 8 left off - but as the first four minutes of the midseason premiere show, he didn't mean it the scene in Alexandria...
So at the start of episode 9 we are led back to Daryl, Abraham and Sasha, who are in "negotiations" with the Saviors and are increasingly in mortal danger. The leader of this motorbike troop seems to have bathed in self-confidence, so easy and self-evident, as he cracks out his crude jokes! Will the sleazy guy actually shoot Sasha and Abraham? And will Daryl be able to get rid of his "companion" and remember he still has a rocket launcher in the back of the vehicle? In the midseason finale, the walls of Alexandria fell down, making way for the walker herd. Carl actor Chandler Riggs is said to have been spotted with a bandage during filming. There has long been speculation as to whether Carl could lose an eye. In the comics for TWD, this tragic fate befalls him precisely when the bloodthirsty walker herd storms Alexandria and one of the residents of Alexandria shoots wildly and hits him in the process.
This picture of the Russian version of FOX shows us that Carl is wearing a bandage over his right eye. This does not have to mean that the tragic event of the comics will actually take place in the series. Theoretically, it could also be that Carl's eye, in the sense of an homage, is merely injured and the TWD producers only want to fool their fans with the above photo - similar to Glenn in previous episodes. Admittedly, not particularly likely, but should Carl lose his eye it would mean a blatant turn for the future of the series. In the comics, Carl is hit in the eye by a gun bullet, then falls into a coma and is a completely new person when he wakes up. And an absolute badass! This will certainly be really interesting, especially when Carl and the whole troupe finally meet Negan and his Saviors at the end of this season.
Following the expected bloodbath in the midseason premiere, according to the previous promo material for 6B, we can probably count on a completely new beginning for our troupe, whereby we are particularly looking forward to getting to know Paul "Jesus" Monroe and other residents of the Hilltop Colony. Does that mean Alexandria is history now? You can probably no longer see this place as a protection zone. However, Andrew Lincoln believes that fighting for Alexandria is well worth it. After Deanna's death, all responsibility for Alexandria now rests with Rick. However, according to Andrew Lincoln, Rick will change. This is also due to the events we will see in the midseason premiere. "It's going to be one of those turning points," Lincoln explains, "and as a result, he's going to learn something fundamental about being a leader. And once again he will change and develop a new way of leadership." Well, the upcoming episodes are all under the motto "A Larger World".
